THE Sheraton Fiji Golf Resort and Spa has kicked off its festive season with what its hotel manager Yvo Alexander Van Dijk claims is the largest gingerbread house in the South Pacific, built in the resort’s lobby.

According to the resort, the structure was unveiled on December 5 and stands at 55 metres, measuring 55 metres in length and 30 metres wide.

Mr Dijk highlighted the scale of the display and the resort’s festive season plans, which aim to provide a gathering space for both local and international guests.

“We have the biggest gingerbread house of the South Pacific, you would have seen it in our lobby,” he said.

“This is the biggest gingerbread house in the history of Fiji. According to my team, we have close to a thousand kilos of gingerbread stuck to that place.”

Mr Dijk emphasised the resort’s commitment to providing a high-quality, inclusive experience.

“That being said, this is what we would expect of the Sheraton, the world’s gathering place.

“So, it’s where you find a place you can meet and greet locals, where you can meet and greet people who have been living in Fiji like myself and call them locals, and where you can have international travellers.”

Mr Dijk said the quality of food and beverages at the resort was unparalleled anywhere else around the world.
