Two men have been arrested by the Southern Division Taskforce in connection with the attempted robbery in Tacirua, with the vehicle seen in a widely circulated video also seized by Police.
Police confirmed that several taskforce members were injured during the operation after the suspects threw stones at officers while resisting arrest.
The officers eventually subdued the suspects, who were taken into custody as investigations continue.
The Fiji Police Force has commended the brave actions of the family who warded off the suspects and provided crucial information that led to the swift arrests.
Police also acknowledged members of the community for sharing information with investigating officers.
Police say divisional taskforces have been strengthened during the festive period due to past trends showing a rise in opportunistic crimes.
A warning has been issued to those intending to commit criminal acts that they will be identified, arrested, and brought before the courts to face the full consequences of their actions under the law.
